PURPOSE: An image recording method around alarm of time lapse videotape recorder is provided to grasp condition or shape of a thing to watch and cause of an accident from a main image taken around generation of an emergency state by recording continuously not only an image after generation of an alarm signal but also an image before generation of the alarm signal on a recording medium. CONSTITUTION: A first process records continuously an inputted image signal on a recording medium for an established time. A second process progresses the recording medium in reverse direction as a section less than that recorded in the first process. A third process records continuously an image signal inputted from a present position with progressing the recording medium in front direction in case an emergency state generates during repeated performance of the first and the second process.
