PURPOSE: An apparatus for opening/closing a slide cover in a portable terminal is provided to easily open or shut the slide cover of a portable terminal in a single hand. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for opening/closing a slide cover(20) in a portable terminal consists of a pinion gear(30), a rack gear(21), an elastic unit, a locking unit, and a guide unit. The pinion gear(30), of which a part is protruded on a main body, is installed at a shaft(31) so as to be rotated independently. The rack gear(21), installed on the inner lateral of the slide cover(20) in its lengthened direction, engages with the pinion gear(30). The elastic unit is installed so as to rotate the pinion gear(30) in one way in order to press the slide cover(20) in the direction that it is opened. The locking unit is installed on the main body and the lateral of the slide cover(20) so that the slide cover(20) can maintain a closed state at the main body. The guide unit guides the slide cover(20) at the main body in the lengthwise direction.
