PURPOSE: A side gate opening/shutting device is provided to arbitrarily supply hydraulic oil pressurized in an oil pump of a power steering system and transmitted to a steering gear box to a side gate opening/shutting hydraulic cylinder to maximize the utilizing efficiency of the oil pump. CONSTITUTION: A side gate opening/shutting device comprises a flow passage switching solenoid valve(3), a hydraulic cylinder(6), a control unit(8) and a control switch(9). The solenoid valve is installed between an oil pump(1) and a steering gear box(2) of a power steering system. The hydraulic cylinder is connected to a switching port(3b) of the solenoid valve and has both ends supported on a side gate and a front gate of a container. The control unit and the control switch are connected with the solenoid valve to control the switching of the solenoid valve.
