PURPOSE: A kick-down brake for an automatic transmission is provided to regularly maintain friction coefficient between a kick-down band and a kick-down drum by preventing eccentrical action of an operational rod, thereby preventing shock of speed change. CONSTITUTION: A kick-down brake for an automatic transmission includes a kick-down drum connected with any one element in an epicyclic gear set, a kick-down band(4) acting on the outer peripheral surface of the kick-down drum, an operational panel(6) connected with one side of the kick-down band for receiving operational pressure of the kick-down band, an operational rod(8) contacted with the operational panel for pushing the operational panel, a kick-down piston(12) connected with the other side of the operational rod for rectilinearly moving the operational rod by oil pressure supplied to a chamber(10), and a guide part(14) formed at the side surface of the front of the operational panel for guiding the operational position of the operational rod to be accurately set up.
