PURPOSE: A chain tension controlling apparatus is provided to reduce abrasion of a chain or a sprocket and reduce noise generated in driving the chain by maintaining tension of the chain. CONSTITUTION: A chain tension controlling apparatus includes a housing(1), a plunger(2) elastically supported by a spring(4) for being coupled with the housing to go in and out one side of the housing, and having a stepped pulley part(6), a tension lever formed at the upper part of the plunger and adhered closely to a chain for controlling tension, a support rod(7) inserted into the housing to be located on one side of the plunger and having a stopper(9) protruded at the upper end to be caught on the stepped pulley part of the plunger, and a screw(10) coupled with an insertion hole(13) formed on one side of the housing for restricting backward movement of the support rod.
