PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fire extinguishant which easily absorbs water by the heat of a fire in firefighting and solidifies and adheres on a burning matters to extinguish fire and prevent spreading fire. SOLUTION: This fire extinguishant contains a temperature sensitive polymer which is water soluble at a temperature lower than a specifically set temperature and absorbs water at a temperature higher than the set temperature to be gelified or solidified. This fire extinguishing method user fire extinguishing water containing the fire extinguishant dissolved in water, and a flameproofing agent or other fire extinguishant at need.
