A shoe or outsole (1) made of resilient material has a sole surface provided with protruding elements (7, 23) both on its inner side (5) that faces the insole and on its outer or bottom side (21) away from the insole, and a rim (19) which surrounds the sole surface. The elements (7) that protrude toward s the insole form a substantially rectangular grid (7). The present invention is characterised in that the protruding elements (23) on the bottom side (21) a re interrupted strips (23) which extend substantially transversely to the longitudinal direction or the longitudinal axis A of the sole. At least one longitudinal rib (27, 29) parallel to the outer contour of the sole is provided on the sole bottom side (21) at least along the outer side (25) of the sole (1). The distance between the longitudinal rib and the outer contou r of the sole is distinctly smaller than half the width of the sole in the hee l area (9). A sickle-shaped reinforcement zone (17) which fills the grid is provided between the area (11) of the ball of the foot and the heel area (9) , extending from the sole inner side (13) in the direction of the longitudinal axis A.
