PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology that can more accurately predict an optical characteristic of a test patch that is printed by a digital printer. SOLUTION: The method of this invention to calibrate a color printer includes a step where a set of element halftone color patches that is printed on a medium by the color printer is provided, a step where the optical characteristic of the element halftone color patches is measured by a colorimeter, a step where a calibrator selects an adjustment parameter gamma of the optical characteristic, and a step where the measured optical characteristic of the element halftone color patch is adjusted by a compensation device of the calibrator through the use of the adjustment parameter gamma by taking the optical characteristic of the medium into account.
