A dovetail joint jig (20) for guiding a power tool for creating a dovetail slot (104) in a first workpiece (92) and a dovetail pin (99) in a second workpiece (91) includes a body portion (31) having a slot portion (25) and a pin portion (26). The slot portion includes side projections (27, 28) which define a clearance space (29). A tapered router bit (102) is guided along th e inner edge of the side projections to create a dovetail slot. The pin portio n includes a slot-shaped portions (98) whose planar shape coincides with the shape of the slot to be created and coincides with the shape of the tapered router bit. A cylindrical router bit (96) is guided around the edge of the p in portion to remove material from the second workpiece and leave a dovetail pi n which matches the dovetail slot. |
