PURPOSE: An access handoff method in a mobile communication system is provided to perform access handoff before a mobile communication terminal is changed to a system access state from a standby state and while the mobile communication terminal is operated in the system access state. CONSTITUTION: An exchange(10) requests the page to the first to third base stations(110,120,130) connected through a base station controller(100). The base stations(110,120,130) transmit a page message to a mobile communication terminal(140). The mobile communication terminal(140) performs a page response to the first base station(110). The first base station(110) transmits a base station recognition signal to the mobile communication terminal(140). The mobile communication terminal(140) is moved to the second base station(120) from the first base station(110). If the first base station(110) transmits a page response signal to the second base station(120), the second base station(120) transmits a page response recognition signal to the first base station(110). The first base station(110) transmits a page response signal to the base station controller(100). The base station controller(100) transmits a channel assignment request signal to the second base station(120). The first base station(110) transmits a channel assignment message signal to the second base station(120). And the first and the second base stations(110,120) respectively transmit an extended channel assignment message to the mobile communication terminal(140).
