PURPOSE: A safety device of a turbo compressor is provided to interrupt power supply of a system by sensing heat generated by abnormal operation of the turbo compressor, thereby preventing the damage of the system and accidents. CONSTITUTION: A turbo compressor includes a rotary shaft(3) coupled to a motor(2) for transmitting rotary force of the motor, impellers(10,11) coupled to both end parts of the rotary shaft and positioned at compression chambers(P1,P2), a journal bearing(R) supporting the rotary shaft in radius direction, and a thrust bearing(T) supporting the rotary shaft in axial direction, wherein the safety device of the turbo compressor includes a first temperature sensor(20) and a second temperature sensor(30) installed at the journal bearing and the thrust bearing for sensing the temperature, and a controller connected to the first and second sensors for interrupting power supply if the temperature sensed by any one temperature sensor is over the set temperature.
