PURPOSE: An emergency device for closing a tap hole capable of quickly closing the tap hole during normal operation, which has ever been closed after repair, is provided, which ensures safety of a worker and improves productivity of molten iron. CONSTITUTION: In a closing device equipped with a mud gun as a closing device of a tap hole of a blast furnace and a closing rod for emergency-closing by the malfunction of the related appendices, this device is characterized in that a front end part of the closing rod forms a plurality of grooves(12-2) for separating fused material in the longitudinal direction at 950 to 1,050deg.C and has a refractory composition in the range of SiO2 45±5%, CaO 40±5% and Al2O3 15±5% and the outer surface of the closing device has a shape of a back tap(12-1) and has a refractory composition in the range of SiO2 70±5%, SiC 15±5% and SiO2 15±5%.
