PURPOSE: A relief valve is provided to keep a stabilized oil pressure by keeping the stabilized up and down motion of a plunger. CONSTITUTION: A relief valve(2) has a valve bore(8) having an oil inlet port(6) in an oil gallery(4) at a specific place of a cylinder block, and a bypass hole(10) is formed in the middle upper portion of the bore. A plunger(14) elastically supporting a spring(12) is installed in the lower portion of the bore to be slid. If the oil pressure applied to the upper face of the plunger is over the elasticity of the spring, the plunger descends against the spring. Then, the bypass hole is exposed and oil is discharged via the bypass hole. Therefore, the circulating oil pressure of the oil gallery is controlled. Additionally, a plate(24) having many holes(22) is formed in the upper part of the plunger. With the plunger, the length of the plunger is extended without impacts on the bypass of engine oil.
