APPARATUS AND METHOD OF DETECTING HOT ROLLING BAR SUPPLIED THROUGH ON-LINE

PURPOSE: A detector of a hot rolling bar is provided to set the optimum margin exactly by automatically detecting the shape of a hot rolling bar supplied through on-line. CONSTITUTION: A detecting mechanism of a hot rolling bar is designed to obtain an image of a hot rolling bar(1) in a hot rolling process. The detecting mechanism consists of a CCD(Charge Coupled Device) camera(10) mounted between a stand(2) and a crop shear(4), and a signal processor(11) for deciding existence of a hot rolling bar by analyzing the obtained image from the CCD camera. The CCD camera obtains images sequentially by using an internal trigger. The head and tail portions of a hot rolling bar are detected from the images. Thereby, a worker shears the hot rolling bar with the crop shear. The sheared hot rolling bar is rolled in a finishing mill roll stand(3).
