PURPOSE: To provide a friction test device capable of carrying out friction test with ease and high accuracy by simulating the friction test, while using a sample product without making a prototype to be actually used, one by one, when a friction test for a visco-elastic material is carried out. CONSTITUTION: This device comprises a rotary friction means 3 having an endless belt 2 suspended on one pair of rotary drums 1, 1; belt supporting means 5 disposed in the vicinity of an inner surface 4 of the belt 2; a sample holder 6 for attaching detachably a sample W; sample holder driving means 8 for rotationally holding the sample holder 6 and pushing under pressure and separate the sample W attached in the sample holder 6 onto and apart from an outer surface 7 of the belt 2. Further this device is provided with a belt meandering preventing mechanism for preventing the belt 2 rotated by the one pair of rotary drums 1, 1 from meandering.
