PURPOSE: A semiconductor device is provided to perform refresh operation for holding information in a memory cell, thereby, conflict between access for dynamic memories other than refreshed memory(external access) and access for refresh occurs and deterioration of performance is caused. CONSTITUTION: The semiconductor device is made into a pipeline state, a pipeline frequency(CLK) of the pipeline dynamic memory(PDRAM) is made higher than a frequency of external access(CLK1), and access required for refresh operation is performed for empty slot of a pipeline of the pipeline dynamic memory. Therefore, as refresh for an internal dynamic memory is internally operated and refresh does not need to be considered for external access timing, the device can be easily used and has high operation speed.
