OPTICAL DEFORMATION SENSOR

PURPOSE: An optical deformation sensor is exactly measure the level of deformation by forming coating layer made of material, which has a larger elastic elongation limit, if large deformation occurs at a structure. CONSTITUTION: An optical deformation sensor includes a pair of fixing members(10), a spiral coil spring(30) and an optical fiber(20). The fixing members are fixed on a structure in a predetermined interval from each other. The spiral coil spring is fixed to apply a predetermined tension to the fixing members. The optical fiber is inserted in the inside of the coil spring and applied with a predetermined pressure from the coil spring when the structure is deformed. The optical fiber may be mounted to the coil spring to be twisted in the same pitch as the coil spring.
