PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a version updating method and system prepared for a control program of a satellite broadcast digital receiver, allowed to be inexpensively executed and easily provided by a maker and capable of preventing a user from being complicated. SOLUTION: The digital receiver 7 for receiving a satellite broadcast has a control program, a communication means for communicating with a personal computer(PC) 3 through an exclusive port, an exclusive cable 4 for connecting the exclusive port to the PC 3, and a rewriting means for rewriting the control program by the communication. The PC 3 is provided with a port to be connected to the cable 4 and a means 8 (e.g. a telephone line) for accessing the Internet 2. A maker server 1 discloses at least an install program capable of updating the version of the control program on the Internet 2.
