PURPOSE: A method for forming a user menu of a portable radio terminal is provided so that a number of key inputs for searching menus can be decreased by forming a frequently-used service menu as the user menu. CONSTITUTION: A controller receives a key signal from a key input unit(311), and confirms whether the key signal is a user menu formation key signal. If not, the controller performs an operation corresponding to the key signal(313). When the key signal is the user menu formation key signal, the controller converts a current menu to a user menu formation mode(315). The controller displays a user menu index input request message on a display unit(317). The controller confirms whether a key signal corresponding to a user menu index is inputted from the key input unit(319). If not, the controller confirms whether a setup time elapses(321). The controller displays a menu index input request message on the display unit(323), and detects whether a key signal corresponding to a menu index is inputted from the key input unit(325). If not, the controller confirms whether a setup time elapses(327). The controller stores the user menu index in a user menu storage region of a memory, and cancels the user menu formation mode(331).
