DRIVE CONTROL DEVICE AND METHOD OF RETRACTABLE ANTENNA FOR TELECOMMUNICATION HANDSET

PURPOSE: A drive control device and a method of a retractable antenna for a telecommunication handset are provided to consider the assurance of a space for protruding the antenna, thereby preventing the damage of the antenna. CONSTITUTION: A sensor(190) is attached on the handset to sense the presence of a space for protruding the retractable antenna(180). A received signal strength detector(110) detects the strength of a received signal. A motor driver(150) generates forward/backward rotation drive signals. A motor(160) is rotated by the drive signals generated from the motor driver(150). A power transfer(170) assures the retractable motion of the antenna by vertically moving the antenna in accordance with the forward/backward rotation of the motor. A controller(100) controls the motor driver in accordance with a call status.
