PURPOSE: A method for starting an engine is provided to start the engine after successively closing an intake valve and an exhaust valve without using an additional actuator driving algorithm in starting the electro mechanical valve engine. CONSTITUTION: After turning on an engine start, an electronic control apparatus and an electro mechanical valve controller are initialized. Then, intake valves are closed until completely closing the intake valves. Then, exhaust valves are closed until completely closing the exhaust valves. Then, a starter is turned on while turning on a fuel pump. After rotating an engine, an engine RPM(Revolutions Per Minute) is detected for deciding each cylinder stroke. In case of the detected engine RPM over an established RPM, fuel is asynchronously injected. Then, an intake stroke, a compressing stroke, an explosion stroke, and an exhaust stroke are performed.
