PURPOSE: A timing device for a variable valve of a vein type is provided to reduce the response time of valve timing through rapidly changing a phase angle by increasing surface pressure. CONSTITUTION: An electronic control valve receives a signal from an ECU(Electronic Control Unit) for supplying variable hydraulic pressures to a retard chamber(27) and an advance chamber(29) through a retard passage(9) and an advance passage(11). Thus, rotational force of a camshaft sprocket(7) is promoted centering upon a camshaft(1). Therefore, phase angle of the camshaft is changed. Herein, hydraulic pressure is supplied to a gear shaping unit(45) through retard and advance oil supply passages(41,43). Moreover, the gear shaping units are formed on both sides of a vein(23) for increasing hydraulic pressure operating surface. A width of the vein is increased for increasing a distance between a hydraulic pressure operating center and a rotation center. Therefore, a vein rotating torque is increased for promoting rotational force of the camshaft sprocket to reducing the response time of the valve timing.
