PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a position discrimination system capable of discriminating positions of options without burden on an operator even when three or more options are mounted. SOLUTION: A position specification signal transmitting part 13 of a printer 10 outputs a position designation signal, for example, of two bits to an option tray 20 mounted just under the printer 10. A position of option deciding part 25 of the option tray 20 by which the position designation signal is received inverts one bit of two bits, replaces positions of a high-order bit and a low-order bit and outputs the bits to the lower option tray 20. Information on a position of the option tray 20 corresponding to the value of two bits is stored in a position of option storage part 24. The position of option deciding part 25 collates a value of two bits stored in the position of option storage part 24 with a value of bit received by itself and discriminates a mounting position of itself. |
