PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire coating stripper wherewith when the coating on a heater wire or sensor wire with a thin foil-like body wrapped therein is stripped, the wire is properly guided into between an upper edge and a lower edge and set there, the coating is stripped with the center of the wire aligned with the center of the edge portion, and the thin foil-like body in the wire will not be cut. SOLUTION: A pliers-type wire coating stripper comprises a pair of handle portions 11 positioned below a coupling fulcrum 10, and a pair of holding members that are positioned above the coupling fulcrum and opened and closed to the left and right according to the closing and opening of the handle portions 11. One of the holding members is provided with a pair of clamp portions 9 vertically opposed to each other, and the other holding member 30 is provided with an edge portion comprising a pair of an upper edge 15 and a lower edge 16 for cutting wires, positioned at its upper and lower parts. The stripper is provided with butting portions that are formed on a projected member and a recessed member which vertically engage together the upper edge 15 and the lower edge 16 of the edge portion, the recessed portion forming a guide whose width is slightly greater than the diameter of a wire 8 to be stripped, and stop the upper edge 15 and the lower edge 16 in contact with each other in the vertical direction. |
