PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head capable of effectively using a magnetic recording medium when a high-frequency signal is processed, and a magnetic head manufacturing method capable of reducing the number of manufacturing steps and increasing yield. SOLUTION: A core having a magnetic gap 11a being non-horizontal to a substrate surface is formed in a step shape on the substrate. Thus, when a high-frequency signal is processed, the signal is recorded in the entire area of a magnetic recording medium, and the magnetic recording medium is effectively used. In addition, since plural magnetic heads are simultaneously formed in one chip in the step of forming one magnetic head, the number of manufacturing steps is reduced and yield is increased.
