PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the hinge positioning mechanism in a folding gage rod sure and endurable. SOLUTION: Gage rod bodies 2a and 2b are connected to be foldable with a hinge 3. A steel ball 5 is rotatably held with a hinge piece 3a and a part of the steel ball 5 is projected slidably with the other hinge piece 3b. I[n the hinge piece 3b, a hooking hole 3e wherein the steel ball can fit in the case that the staff bodies 2a and 2b become straight is formed.
