PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elliptically polarizing plate which has no defect such as peeling-off although the layer structure is simplified and which is suitable for liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: In the elliptically polarizing plate, a polarizing device is held between an optical anisotropic device having at least an aligned liquid crystal polymer film on a cellulose triacetate film and a light-transmitting protective film, and the optical anisotropic device is subjected to saponification treatment.
