PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synchronous motor for timers with new structure that can suppress the amount of heat being generated in a coil and at the same time obtain a stable magnetic pole at the magnetic pole formation part of a stator with less number of turns and simple structure. SOLUTION: By forming a short-circuiting part 44 that is independent of a magnetic pole formation part 46 for a stator 14, poor influence to the rotary operation of a rotor 18 is avoided as much as possible, and at the same time a conduction current can be suppressed. As a result, while the amount of heat generation is being suppressed, the number of turns of a coil 12 can be reduced, thus miniaturizing the coil 12 and hence a synchronous motor 10 for timers.
