PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for manufacturing a magnetic recording medium, capable of performing uniform heating, and reducing the generation of dropouts. SOLUTION: A magnetic recording medium 10 having a metal magnetic thin film formed on a nonmagnetic support is manufactured by performing non-contact heating, and cupping improvement processing. In addition, a device 1 is provided, having a heating means 3 for heating, in a non-contact manner, the magnetic recording medium 10 of the metal magnetic thin film formed on the nonmagnetic support.
