PURPOSE: To provide a thickness controller for rolling mills with which the effect on thickness by the roll eccentricity is reduced even to the rolling mill in which kiss roll can not be easily made and which can correspond even to the change of the roll eccentricity. CONSTITUTION: This controller is provided with a thickness gage installed on the outlet side of the rolling mill, traveling distance calculating means for calculating the traveling distance of a rolled stock from the rolling mill, means for calculating the rotational angle of a rolling roll for calculating the rotational angle of the rolling roll, thickness deviation calculating means for calculating thickness deviation of a measured value of thickness to the target value, thickness deviation storing means by which the thickness deviation is added at each rotational angle and stored, means for deciding the input of the thickness deviation for deciding the timing for inputting the thickness deviation into the thickness deviation storing means, means for deciding the output of the thickness deviation for deciding the timing for outputting the thickness deviation which is stored into the thickness deviation storing means and manipulated variable calculating means for fetching the thickness deviation at the decided timing for outputting and deciding the manipulated variable of a screw-down opening- degree controller.
