PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup adaptable to two wavelengths and capable of miniaturization without using a synthetic prism. SOLUTION: This is an optical pickup device 100 using a semiconductor laser element 50 formed of a one-chip laser diode and having two light sources emitting the first laser beam and the second laser beam with a wavelength different from the first; the device is provided with a photodetector 60 having the first and second detecting units 61, 62 for receiving the first and second laser beams respectively, and the photodetector is installed at a position where each return optical path length is different from an optical disk 55 to the first and second detecting units 61, 62. |
