PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain image data with high image quality (high resolution) by revising an image pickup area by each solid-state image pickup element to a proper area with a simple structure depending on a zooming state of a lens in the case of adopting a plurality of the solid-state image pickup elements to separately pick up images and to composite them. SOLUTION: Since one image is divided into a plurality of images and each CCD 25 provided to separate zoom lens assemblies picks up each of the images and composites them, a high resolution is obtained from the composited image. Furthermore, since each elevating angle of each of the zoom lens assemblies 24LU, 24LL, 24RU and 24RL is adjusted in matching with the magnification adjustment values of the zoom lens assemblies 24LU, 24LL, 24RU and 24RL, the zoom lens assemblies 24LU, 24LL, 24RU and 24RL can pick up the image in a proper image area with the respective magnifications.
