PURPOSE: A back light unit for a liquid crystal display is to reduce an optical plate including a diffuser, upper and lower prisms and a protector, and to separate a parts mounting region from a reflector, thereby reducing the thickness of the unit and preventing a contact of the parts with the reflector. CONSTITUTION: A lamp(20) is disposed on the left side of a light guide panel(30). The circumference of lamp is covered with a lamp reflector(21), by which the light radiated from the lamp is reflected to direct toward the light guide panel. On the light guide panel is put in contact with a reflector(31), reflecting the light vertically upward. A diffuser(32), a wave plate(33) and a prism plate(34) are successively put in contact with the light guide panel, reducing the thickness of the unit. Under the reflector is disposed a driving circuitry(60) and a parts mounting region(70). and the parts and the reflector are separated by the driving circuitry, thereby preventing a contact of the parts with the reflector. |
