PURPOSE: A filtering device for reducing smoke of a diesel automobile is provided to simplify the structure thereof, easily install the same, and economically and efficiently reduce a smoke and a particulate material. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust gas exhausted from the diesel engine is flowed into an intake gas guiding pipe(2), passes through a chamber(12) and discharged from a chamber(11). The exhaust gas is discharged through a fine holes(6) of the intake gas guiding pipe and purified by a catalyst of balls(7) filled in the chamber(11). A particulate material discharged with the exhaust gas is laid on the surface and the inside of the ball and combined together so that the particle increases in size. The increased particulate material is fallen to a hopper(8) and gathered by the joggling of the automobile on driving and a pulsation flow from the engine. The gathered particulate material is burnt and removed by an electric heater(3) positioned below the chamber. Small amount of particulate material is moved to the chamber(12) and combined by the filtration area of the ball filled in the chamber(12). The combined material is fallen downstairs and completely burnt by the electric heater. The purified exhaust gas is discharged through an exhaust gas guiding pipe(4).
