The system includes a solid-state image detector with an array of photodiodes and several channels for reading out the generated charges as analogue signals. At least one A/D converter converts the analogue signal into a signal that can be processed to form an output image. Within the image pick-up cycle, several individual images are taken sequentially. The charges for each individual image are read out in an oversampling process comprising several sequential read-out steps, and then stored in a memory (13) connected to the solid state image detector (7). At least one multiplexer (15) is connected to the memory for reading the contents of the memory.
