System for monitoring the service life of oil for diesel engines takes into consideration the conditions under which it is driven

At each oil change the number of permissible engine revolutions before the next is stored in the vehicle computer. The conditions under which the engine is driven are evaluated on the basis of measurements of oil temperature over a set interval or motor revolutions, and the degree of oil contamination based on various motor parameters. For each type of motor penalty factors are determined experimentally for these and these are deducted from the total permissible revolutions to determine the need for an oil change.
