PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting an idle code in a coded line in a communication system is provided to detect an idle code by executing access for analog and digital tests, based on the user seizure status information of a coded line. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for detecting an idle code in a coded line in a communication system consists of an idle code detection part(41), a data detection part(42), and a line state latch part(43). The idle code detection part(41) detects the existence of an idle code from the data received through a line and removes the data in case that the idle code exists. The data detection part(42) detects the existence of state transition from the data transferred through the idle code detection part(41). Receiving a result of the data detection part(42), the line state latch part(43) determines and stores a state of the line. When a request from an MCU(Main Control Unit) is generated, the line state latch part(43) transfers line state information to the MCU through a system bus.
