STRUCTURE FOR COMBINING PISTON WITH CONNECTING ROD FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PURPOSE: A combining structure of a piston and a connecting rod is provided to improve the processibility of a connecting rod and to reduce the weight of a piston assembly by shaping a small end portion of the connecting rod into a plane. CONSTITUTION: A piston(12) lifting up and down in a cylinder block(18) is combined with a small end portion(16) of a connecting rod(14). The small end portion of the connecting rod is formed in the shape of a disk of a specific thickness. An open hole is formed in the piston to make the small end portion fitted into the piston. The open hole is communicated with the lower portion of the piston. As the piston is directly combined with the connecting rod, the weight of a piston assembly including the connecting rod is reduced. The planar shape of the connecting rod makes the determination of a process datum point for processing easy.
