PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the evaporation of components contained in a base material and to attain the refinement of metallic structure and the uniform dispersion of the contained components. SOLUTION: In the step S1, a cylinder head as an intermediate is cast; in the step S2, the resultant casting is taken out of a mold and a sprue is cut off; in the step S3, T6 heat treatment is applied to the casting; in the step S4, surface treatment is applied to the region between the ports of the casting by frictional agitation; in the step S5, T6 heat treatment is applied again to the casting; and in the step S6, finish working is applied. In the frictional agitation treatment, a pin-shaped tool 2 is driven in a rotary motion to agitate the surface modification region of the casting by frictional heat.
