PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating material having excellent dispersibility of titanium dioxide and excellent affinity/adhesion to gypsum board. SOLUTION: This method for fixing titanium dioxide comprises mixing titanium dioxide with gypsum, water and <=30 wt.% based on gypsum of cement, adjusting the mixture to pH >=8 to give a coating material and applying the coating material to the surface of wall.
