PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing coke, by which fine non-caking coal can be compounded in a large amount to lower the production cost of the coke, while preventing the lowering in the strength of the coke and the deterioration in the quality of the coke. SOLUTION: This method for producing the coke is characterized in that the compounding amount of fine non-caking coal charged into the upper portion 25 of a carbonization chamber 12 is larger than the compounding amount of fine non-caking coal charged into the lower portion 24, when coal is charged into the carbonization chamber 12.
