PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deformation of cup containers, when a food charged in the cup containers is thermally sterilized. SOLUTION: The cup stands used for a thermal sterilization device for loading cup containers 3 containing a food to be sterilized on trays 1, receiving the trays in several layers in a sterilizing tank, and then thermally sterilizing the food in the cup containers with hot water, characterized by charging the food to be sterilized into the cup containers 3 having cup portions 6 for receiving the food and flange portions 9 whose outer diameters are larger than those of the cup portions 6, setting cut stands 2 which have a larger height than those of the cut containers and on whose upper surfaces cup container-receiving holes 5 having larger diameters than the outer diameters of the cup portions and smaller than the outer diameters of the flange portions are formed, inserting the cup portions 6 of the cup containers 3 into the holes 5 for receiving the containers, and superposing the cut stands 2 on the trays 1, respectively, so that the flange portions 1 of the cup containers 3 are projected from the upper surfaces of the cup stands 2 to fix the cut containers 3.
