PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel olefin polymerization catalyst and a polymerization method for olefins using the same. SOLUTION: This catalyst comprises (A) a transition metal compound represented by formula I (wherein M is a transition metal atom; R1 to R10 are each a hydrocarbon group or the like; m is 0, 1, or 2; n is an integer of 1-5; A is an atom of the group 13-16; E is a substituent having elements such as oxygen or halogen; p is the valence of M; and X is a hydrocarbon group or the like), (B) an ionic compound containing an anion cluster essentially containing atoms of the groups 16 and 17, and (C) an organometallic compound.
