PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article being excellent in visibility of a leakage preventive groove, having an effect feeling and a sense of security, being noncollapsible in the leakage preventive groove even if the article is twisted at wearing time and being excellent in leakage preventive performance. SOLUTION: This absorbent article 1 has a liquid retentive absorbing layer 2 and a liquid impermeable leakage preventive layer 3, and forms a pair of substantially longitudinally long leakage preventive grooves 61 running in the lengthwise direction and width directional leakage preventive grooves 64, 64' running in the width direction on the skin abutting surface side of the absorbing layer 2, and is constituted so that a width of the leakage preventive grooves 61 is formed wider than a width of the width directional leakage preventive grooves 64, 64'.
