An array of dies (70, 80) can be used in a method and apparatus for making a composite article that comprises multilayered rubbers. In the method and apparatus, at least two extruders (12, 12a) are used to extrude at least two rubber streams (19, 19a, 23, 25) through the die array (70, 80), to provide a rubber extrudate (28, 28a) comprised of alternate layers (29, 29a, 29b) of rubber from the at least two rubber streams. The rubber compositions in the two rubber streams can be the same or different. The extrudate (28, 28a) may have a profile that makes it suitable for application directly in a composite article. |
