PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric reel for fishing enabling a spool motor to perform a variable-speed operation so as to deal with e.g. the change in fishing spot circumstance or fishing method. SOLUTION: This electric reel has a spool motor for driving a spool rotatably supported on a reel body, a means for controlling the output of the spool motor and an operative member for the motor output control means; wherein the control of spool motor output by the operative member is set optionally in one of the following two steps: output control range of common use where motor output is subjected to continuous variable-magnitude control and high- output range where a winding operation is made at an output beyond the output control range of common use.
