A gantry stacking crane comprises a gantry 1, Fig. 1, having hinged thereto a jib 2 movably carrying a carriage 3 supporting a stacking column 4 which is adapted to be rotated and raised and lowered and which has at its lower end a driver's cab 5 and a load pick-up means 6. The column 4 may be tubular and may be telescopic. The load pick-up means 6 may be a fork or tongs and is mounted so that it can be moved with a load under the cab 5 so as to pass through hatches of a ship. |
