<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine that is capable of strongly sterilizing a drain passage in which fungus and mold are apt to develop. <P>SOLUTION: The washing machine includes: an enclosure 101; an outer tub 104 provided in the enclosure 101; an inner tub 105 that is provided in the outer tub 104 and for housing laundry; a drain outlet 109 that is provided at a lower end of the outer tub 104 and for draining water in the outer tub 104: switching means 112 for switching storage and drainage of water in the outer tub 104; an inner drain passage 110 connecting a drain outlet 109 and the switching means 112; an outer drain passage 111 for guiding water from the switching means 112 to the outside of the enclosure 101 during draining; and an electrolytic device 115 for producing electrolytic water by electrolysis of electrolytic solution containing chlorine.
