OIL-DEGRADING BACTERIUM AND METHOD FOR TREATING OIL- CONTAINING EFFLUENT USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inexpensive microorganisms having stable oil-degrading activity, needing no special technique for the management and usable at ordinary effluent treatment facilities such as addition to aeration tanks, and to provide a method for treating oil-contg. effluent using the microorganisms. SOLUTION: This microorganism is a Pseudomonas sp. AQ-T5 strain (FERM P-17554) or mutant thereof which is capable of producing a membrane-binding type oil-degrading enzyme that is not extracellularly secreted; wherein the 16S ribosome RNA gene has a partial base sequence given sequence No.1 in the array table described in the specification. The other objective method for treating oil-contg. effluent is characterized by treating such effluent using the above microorganisms. Another version of the method comprises using a biological membrane; wherein the main microorganisms constituting the membrane is characterized by being a Pseudomonas sp. AQ-T5 strain (FERM P-17554) or mutant thereof.
