PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operating device for an electric vehicle being compact in the front-to-back direction of a vehicular body when adopting a handle generating moment under no-load condition of a broken type handle and the like. SOLUTION: The handle 6 is energized to directions opposing to each other by a pair of compression springs 17, 18 different in distance from a pin 15 as a swinging fulcrum of the handle 6, and with a difference in the moment therebetween, moment inherent in the handle 6 is cancelled.
